Tuition fees in the Netherlands

Study at Zuyd
If you’re coming to study for a full degree at Zuyd, you’ll need to pay Dutch tuition fees each year. The amount depends on your nationality and the type of programme you follow.
- EU/EEA students: you pay the statutory Dutch tuition fee, which are set by the Dutch government each year.
- Non-EU/EEA students: you pay the institutional tuition fees, which are higher because the Dutch government does not cover part of the costs for non-EU students.
- Exchange students: if you come to Zuyd as part of an exchange programme from a partner university, you usually don’t pay tuition fees.
What are your tuition fees?
Use the tuition fee indicator to find out what applies to your situation. A few important points:
- If you're enrolled in more than one programme, you only pay the highest Netherlands tuition fee.
- If you start your studies later in the academic year, you only pay for the months you're actually registered.

What if you don’t pay on time?
Please read the deregistration procedure for non-payment to understand what happens if you miss the payment deadline.
Why are there different Dutch tuition fees?
The cost of higher education in the Netherlands is shared between students and the Dutch government.
- If you’re from the EU and don’t already hold a similar degree, the government helps cover part of the cost. You pay the lower statutory fee.
- If you’re from outside the EU or already have a degree at the same level, the government doesn’t subsidise your studies, so you pay a higher institutional fee.
